Lakeland Ceremony & Reception – 11.28.08

Author: arnoldooffermann  //  Category: Weddings

Steve & Deb Carey chose the Entertainment Coordinator package for one reason: Convenience.

Convenience of meeting at THEIR location and not our office.
Convenience of having my cell phone # 24/7.
Convenience of knowing whatever they need I can make it happen one way or another.
Convenience of leaving the most important day of their lives to professional that make it happen.

Steve & Deb are GREAT couple who wanted to skip some of the wedding “fluff” and just party with their friends and loved ones. They chose the Imperial Swan in Lakeland, Florida, and as usual I was ecstatic to work there.Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The playlist was awesome, I wish I had saved it… almost an hour of 80s rock… it was so much fun watching everyone dance to Bon Jovi, Guns n Roses, and Aerosmith…then suddenly to Baby Got Back. This was truly an eclectic group.

One problem I had… I wear slippery dress shoes.. and there was a stage. Right in the middle of the reception I fell off the stage (walked off, really) as I was about to show them how to do the Mississippi Slide. It’s weird seeing everyone waiting to know you’re OK before they bust out laughing. :)

This was everyone, too.. all the guests… my assistant, the photographer, and staff. It’s all good though, minus the BIG bruise on my leg. :)

Enjoy some iPhone pics below, I will post some photos Monday given to us from KC Enterprises Photography @ www.polkphoto.com (my favorite photographers, they did my wedding!)

Racing through the mind of a REAL wedding entertainer….

Author: arnoldooffermann  //  Category: Weddings

The thoughts below were posted on a popular DJ forum, and I wanted to share this with you. Sadly, some DJs disagree with what I wrote below, believing that they have little impact on your wedding day. These are the DJs you don’t want to risk for your wedding.

Whether you choose us or another entertainer, ask him/her if they know the impact they have on your wedding reception.

Ask them for examples! When I was asked for mine, I wrote the following… click the link.

DJ in Dundee, Halloween event near Winter Haven

Need an entertainer for your community party? Someone that can entertain people of all ages and represent your community in its chosen flavor? www.apremierentertainment.com

How about a kid’s party? www.BubbleManiaParties.com

The community of Dundee did a great job putting together a Halloween festival for everyone of all ages to enjoy. While everything was outside, I was inside in the “break area” where people could eat. This was also where the pie-eating contest and the costume contest were held.

My stage was set up like a graveyard, and I was asked to DJ in costume. No problem… I got in serious character for the evening… I was the grim reaper, better known as the Death Jockey.

My voice and acting classes from my (Art-based) high school REALLY came into play here. I had a great sound clip (no video– too many kids) but it got corrupted of the voice used. It wasn’t a traditional screechy voice (like Tales from the Crypt)… it was a monotone-ish, devil-sounding voice. Lots of humor was thrown along with the announcements to make sure no kids got scared AND to not make it so “evil.”

My head stayed down at all times (no mask, too hot) except when I put the cape over my face to see what was going on (it’s a one-way fabric.. I can see out, but they can’t see in).

It was HARD to be interactive and lead line dances without people seeing your face!

It was fun! Check out the link below for pics!

Hmmm… ironically enough, when we bring more staff members than needed, I manage to FORGET TO CHARGE MY CAMERA! Not as many photos as usual, but you’ll be just fine. ;)

Kelly MC’d the wedding, I DJed, and Kyle helped coordinate. It was fun…. the possible rain didn’t stop Michael and Melissa from having their ceremony outside– luckily it didn’t rain.. I guess that’s a sign from above! :)

The ceremony was held in their own location in Lake Wales, Florida.

Check out some quick photos and the video after the break below!

This wedding was amazing.. besides the fact that Tiffany was an easygoing bride who had total confidence in her vendors, Gary served in the military. I feel privileged anytime I get to perform as an MC for those who fight for our rights and freedoms.

I watched a preview of the wedding video from Storybook Weddings Storybookweddings.tv Tiffany and Gary’s friends are HILARIOUS! This wedding reminded me why I got into this business to begin with! It’s about having FUN!

We worked with Linda Horn and Jodee Furlong of Beautiful Beginnings. This certainly wasn’t the first time and won’t be the last. weddings Military Wedding DJ in Florida, Lake Wales, Winter Haven We were at Lake Ashton in Lake Wales… the menu was amazing! We had Chicken Cordon Bleu, Prime Rib (which is to DIE for), Pasta Bar, Potatoes Au Gratin, Fondue, and a Spring Vegetable Medley with a delicious side of freshly baked bread.

Mmm.

We created some VERY VERY custom introductions… so there’s LOTS of pics and LOTS of video– check it out after the break.
