Italian/Puerto Rican Wedding in Disney – Orlando DJ

Author: arnoldooffermann  //  Category: Weddings

In Italy, Sunday weddings are the luckiest…. well in Lisa and Anthony’s case: they were extra lucky– it was the day right after Valentine’s Day!

As an MC, I was in awe of the massive orchestration of this wedding. I knew that a party with 150 Puerto Ricans and Italians, half who are from the Bronx, would be out of this world… I just wasn’t prepared on how elaborate everything was.

Hosted at Disney’s Atlantic Dancehall, the route there (Boardwalk) was breathtaking and had that typical Disney charm. A string quartet played music while my assistant, Kyle, and myself got ready for the evening. We spoke with Joe, the lead singer of The Benjamins. This wasn’t some rinky dinky band… hailing from NJ with over 250 shows a year, and opening for major acts such as Lifehouse, Red Hot Chili Peppers, amongst others, this was a band that promised a big show.

And they delivered! Tag teaming between their music and mine, we kept the floor packed.

From the DJ’s side, they danced to EVERYTHING Lisa requested…however we did a spin on her music and did the electro/house versions and they LOVED IT! This was a high-energy crowd and slow songs wasn’t cutting it for them– that was all done during dinner. My favorite part of the night was when Lisa requested Snoop’s “Nuthin’ but a G Thang” and I saw Grandma out there dancing! SWEET! Being a bi-lingual Hispanic DJ really helped here!

DJ in Sebring – Corporate Party

Author: arnoldooffermann  //  Category: Corporate

What a fun group! I made the following video nice and short because I got to play music I may never play again.. at least in this market!

This was the Realtor’s Ball at the Chateau Elán in Sebring, Fl.

I love working there– the staff is amazing and they helped me take this party to a new level. They had an MC who hosted the awards night– he and I had fun ragging on each other… he with his witty banter and myself with music and movie drops. The crowd had a blast! I really wish I shot a video of that part.

Florida Housing Coalition has been our clients for years… and there’s a good reason: we rock the house every time! This year, they chose the beautiful Butler room at the Rosen. You may remember this room as this was one of the rooms used for the wedding for Douglas Gordon, producer of upcoming National Lampoon movie RoboDoc.

I love this crowd… they don’t all dance at the same time as they have varied tastes (it almost feels like a night club), but they don’t complain about the music at all and will try to dance to everything.

Reggae, Salsa/Merengue, Rap, and soul really hit the spot for them!

I cannot express what a BLAST I had! This really is one of my favorite annual events!

NEED A JAMAICAN DJ IN FLORIDA? Tampa? Orlando? Lakeland? Plant City? Central Florida?

Author: arnoldooffermann  //  Category: Weddings

I like to keep tabs on who reads my blog. I’ve noticed that several people needing a Jamaican DJ have landed on my blog. While I am not Jamaican, I do have a Jamaican DJ in our company. We also have DJs, myself included, who know reggae very well.

The great thing about island music, just like Hispanic music, is that it’s very regional. When you interview your DJ, ask him about some reggae songs that fill the floor. While it’s not guaranteed to work at your wedding, at least you’ll know what he/she is talking about.

If the disc jockey/Emcee answers the above question with something like “Sean Paul” and that’s the only artist mentioned, they may not know the genre well enough.

If you asked a DJ experienced in various reggae riddims, like us (shameless plug), then we’d not only tell you, but SHOW you how songs such as Tiny Winey, Ting a Ling, or even Hot Hot Hot (either Arrow or the Dragoneers) will create a great upbeat vibe that everyone can enjoy.

When looking for a DJ experienced in Jamaican music, make sure he has a little bit of everything to please ALL of your friends and loved ones.

And if you’re wondering, my favorite reggae song is Wayne Wonder’s No Letting Go

Cody & Kristen Guengrich.

They’re a wonderful couple with a family that “gets it!” What I mean by “gets it” is that all eyes were on Cody and Kristen. No side conversations, no eyes astray; the entire focus was dead-on the new couple.

You can’t get energy like that anywhere else but a wedding.

They were a real participative family… I really wish I had a video of the intro. The energy level was through the roof. The uncle sang Frank Sinatra’s Way You Look Tonight and he was DEAD ON. Awesome performance…

The best part? It was at Lake Ashton Golf & Country Club.. amazing venue with amazing service (and great food!)

I also learned an important lesson about the iPhone, you’ll see it in a minute.

Great wedding! He’s Greek, she’s Mexican and they needed a careful balance of traditions.

We started with some Carpathian music and started the lead dances as well as family traditions… We had fun and they danced the entire night! We had fun with Cumbias, Huapangos, Tejano, etc!
