They had a club theme this year and it was a BLAST! As I was setting up the uplighting, the coach told me that most students leave at 10:00 because they all head out to the beach the next morning. With the dance ending at 11:00, I couldn’t let this happen.

We played a huge mix of music… and I featured that on the video this time. While rap always remains a major genre in these dances, techno/trance/house really hit the sweet spot for them! This was the first homecoming I’ve done where there’s rotations.. you’ll see part of the floor not dancing to rap, but they immediately move to the front for techno while those that hate techno will move to the back.

I thought “gee, maybe I’m off my game” but I talked to those who weren’t dancing and they said they were also getting worn out… which is good. They’ve never danced like this before.

The video starts off with some great footage of the first 15 minutes.. the students pour in and we get the floor started by getting a select few to start a train.

The students ALL stayed until the VERY first dance. Many thanks & hugs were given to my crew (one person this time, lol) and I.

The video soundtrack was off since my voice was much louder in than the music on the recording feed… live, it was mixed JUST right.

Kinda hard to see… this is a medium-size screen.. 12′ wide with 15′ of truss.

Three-screen preview of what’s on the video screen. These are routed to my laptop (text and effects), the desktop (music videos), and live video. The mixer outputs to my computer, which converts it to a high-quality VGA signal (long distances of S-Video cable are more prone to electrical interference than VGA) and to a dual-deck DV/S-VHS setup for recording.
