Anni & Bubba’s Party Reception!

Posted on Apr 10, 2013

Anni & Bubba belong to a large group of friends and family, most of whom I’ve performed weddings for, so naturally I knew this would be a pretty good crowd. However, Anni & Bubba weren’t concerned with all the complicated details of a wedding that often stress couples out. Instead, Bubba created a unique dance floor in their very own backyard, set up a nice eating area (Bubbaque’s BBQ is amazing!) and invited family and friends for a relaxed, fun time.

Bubba said it best: “Everyone came here to party, the fact that I’m getting married is a sweet bonus!”

Everyone was down to earth, treated us like family, and all celebrated a very special day for Anni & Bubba Hester.

Oh yeah, did I mention my driveshaft fell off my van one mile from their house? Thank God that they, too, live in Lakeland! Pics and video below (of the reception, not my broken driveshaft). The first set of pics are mine, while the 2nd half is from the ever-amazing Rachel and Michelle with R&M Photography!

other parties Michaels Homecoming

Tim and Patty with Storybook Weddings are dear friends of mine; so when they told me their song was coming from Afghanistan and they wanted to throw him a party, I had to be able to help! It’s always an honor to help those who sacrifice for our freedoms!

This crowd LOVED to line dance, too! Check out the pics and video below. Thanks to Rockin’ H Ranch in Lakeland for being such great hosts!

Mandy and Alex’s LIT UP reception!

Posted on Apr 9, 2013

Sometimes you gotta roll with the punches- or in this case, the rain. We planned on an outside ceremony and reception, but inclement weather forced Mandy and Alex to look into tents. Once typical Florida weather hit, it was time to move it indoors after a conversation with them the night prior. No big deal, we’ll make the Visitor’s Center at the Bok Tower look INCREDIBLE and create something that has never before been done there.

Why hasn’t this setup been done before? The reception was to start at 6:00 (ceremony still outside under a tent) and the Center closes at 5:00PM. Usually this is no problem, but a setup like this requires us to begin setup at least 3-5 hours early. Luckily, the Bok Tower staff was more than accommodating. Fitting in 200+ people in there was no easy feat, but it was done, and everyone had an amazing time.

This is one of my favorite lighting setups for a wedding because of how and where it happened. This was the first time the Bok Tower ever had anything like this indoors for a wedding. We had a few different items:

  • Flood lighting to tint the entire room with their wedding colors
  • Pure white lights to show off every detail of the wedding dress, as well as to capture special moments
  • Moving lighs to create excitement and also spotlight special events
  • Colored Discoball: A modern twist on a retro look
  • Monogram: The ONLY way to make a location be truly yours!
  • Custom light shows for special songs!

It was a great party, and our lighting tech, Calvin (my son), made sure that the lights didn’t miss a beat. Scenes, chases, and fades were timed perfectly and customized to their wedding colors. Check out the custom first dance and other great moments in the videos below– as well as their Harlem Shake!

Polk County Bridal Exhibit

Posted on Apr 1, 2013

The PCBE is Polk County’s largest and best bridal show. With the cream of the crop exhibiting their products and services, as well as 8 cruises given away, it’s no wonder that no other show in the county can compete!

We provided sound, music, MC services, gobo projection (the logo you see on the drapes) AND we projected awesome moving patterns on the amazing drapery done by Joette & crew at Party People Celebration Co. We also brought in our of our techs dressed as a leprechaun (this was on St. Patty’s Day) to greet brides as they came in.

Lake Region’s 2013 Prom!

Posted on Apr 1, 2013

Lake Region and I returned back to Disney’s Contemporary Resort for their 2013 Prom. While the theme celebrated many of the great sights this country has to offer, the “unofficial” theme was Turn Up as that’s the two main words chanted that night. This a was non-stop energetic event– then again, they did rock with the best!

It was a small and simple setup, but it fit the school’s budget and needs, and the most important part was that they had an amazing DJ; thus the Lucky 13 Prom Tour begins! Pics and video below!

Justin and Kristen’s Country-Rap Reception!

Posted on Mar 31, 2013

Justin and Kristen danced all night, and THAT’S the kind of crowd I like! The overall wedding was perfect: cool weather for the ceremony, delicious food for the reception, working with Deana and her crew @ Sassy Soiree, and spending time spinning some awesome music at the S-S Ranch… this was truly a recipe for success.

The overall playlist was… interesting; and I mean this in a good way. It’s not often that I get to jump from antebellum-esque country music to rap and end with a mini-rave. Overall, it was a great night! Check out the pics and video below!

Clay & Julie’s Enchanted Reception!

Posted on Mar 30, 2013

The definition of ironic is a when a bride thinks that being in the business for this long, I’ve seen it all and her wedding may be just traditional, when in reality it was one of the more unique ones yet!

Julie and Clay are an amazing couple whose personality fills up the room. They held their ceremony in Solomon’s Castle in Ona, which is near Wauchula. Solomon, her grandfather, built this castle from scratch. The reception was held in her parents’ house, which they also built… to look like a room made of chocolate (from the outside).

Sure, the location enough was unique, but even better was the delicious food the family served (not to mention the amazing food at the Boat on the Moat restaurant) and the overall gratitude that exuded from Julie and Clay. The best part was when Julie decided she wanted to try to mix a couple of songs in! It was a great wedding; Monica and I had a great time as you can see in the pics and video below!
