What an amazing school– they rocked the house again! I got a text from Mrs. Chacon, the sponsor who also put together their amazing homecoming dance. She wanted to create a Sadie Hawkins-style Valentine’s Dance for the school. This would be in no way the same sized crowd as homecoming, as there’d only be 100-150 students, but she wanted to create an unforgettable night!
The energy was through the roof as they danced to a lot of hip-hop/Latin mashups and lots of high energy dance and Euro numbers. The biggest request, Stereo Love, made everyone go insane!
I had the absolutely pleasure of hosting the last homecoming of the 4SchoolsOnly HCX Tour. East Ridge High School tore it down like none other. With over 700 students and AMAZING staff with a unique theme (80s!), Monica and I knew that we were going to head out with a bang.
The students LOVED the lighting featured in our video explosion package as well as the large-range of music mixes. The admin were easy to work with and treated us like one of their own!
Even when the lights went on 5 minutes prior (but the admin said the students could still dance, as the lights were on a timer), the students danced NONSTOP! A few brought whistles and we had a blast going back and forth with them! Check out the photos and video!
Oviedo wanted an out of this world homecoming… and that’s why their theme was Space. The students expressed a lot of complaints on last year’s music and they really wanted to focus on an amazing set of DJs to complement a big light and video show. Well, with DJ Chevy outside (300+ people dancing in 35º weather) and DJCraziAce (yay me!) on the inside, coupled with a giant 14′ video screen, the biggest light show Seminole County has seen, glow in the dark bubbles, and concert-grade lasers… I think it’s safe to say that the goal was achieved. Not to mention that three BlissLights flooded the ENTIRE gym ceiling and walls with stars.
While DJ Chevy held it up outside, Monica and Derek ran the lighting and Bob created an amazing array of laser shows using two areal lasers and one graphics laser on the screen. Nate brought our Snap Yourself Silly photobooth which was a popular hit!
Hardee’s one of my favorite schools… they just really know how to get down. The day started as they treated us to lunch at Paul’s Kitchen. Folks, words cannot express how much food we got for the price and how delicious it was. Hardee has now become a stop for us on our food breaks. Too bad they’re not 24 hours…
The setup was much smaller than what you’ve seen thus far from us… but it fits them well as they have an attendance of under 250, it is a smaller school. Still, they really do things big over here. They’re the only school that has what I consider to be a true-spirited homecoming. No theme… it’s just “Spirit of Hardee,” where they honor the football players on a successful year. The Queen crowns the King and people come as they are. It doesn’t matter if they’re in an expensive oufit or good ol’ jeans and tee… everyone’s welcome to have a good time.
I decided to break out the old moving heads for this one… after a few whacks upside the head, the lights finally worked 100%. This was a free upgrade to the school, so they didn’t mind being the guinea pigs.
My wife, Monica, who’s set up all the light shows this year, started programming lights on her own at this show.. check out the great scenes she did at the videos… big props!
Check out the amazing photos…. including some from my good friend and Hardee photographer, Alex Gilliard. He lent Monica a 50mm ƒ1.8 lens and she went to town taking some great photos, too. Alex’s photos are labeled with his name…. so call him if you’re in the area and need some great shots!
Exactly TWO hours after Adam and Bethany’s wedding in Lakeland, I had to be at New Port Richey for this homecoming. Of course, we set everything up the night prior!
This setup was very similar to Ocoee’s homecoming minus the 69 Boyz. Mitchell High also chose to use Leikos to do fire and ice projections, matching uplights, flames on either side of the screens, glowing spandex triangles, and 1000 red and blue glowsticks. Last but not least, despite Pasco’s no haze rule, we still used our huge laser system to do graphics. Bob (our laser tech) got very creative at this show!
The response of course was huge and 1000+ students had a total blast!! We’ll be back to do their prom once again– it’ll be amazing!
Dances can’t be much tougher to beat. Not only did they exceed their “we hope we can sell this many” ticket count by 500 (1200+ total!), but the energy was BEYOND intense. Lots of fistpumping, and sing alongs. Yes, these students sang along to every song!
So what did we provide:
Infamous Original Showstopper:
2 Big Screens
Lots of lighting
Live Video
Insanely loud system
And how did we create the theme?
500 Red Glowsticks
500 Blue Glowsticks
Leiko projections of fire and ice on either wall
Red and blue uplighting
Custom ambients
Lobby had a “tunnel” made of two screens with Fire and Ice on it
Lobby had Fire and Ice effects on the floor
Lobby was flooded with red and blue washes
I was told this school had a parent DJ beforehand. Looks like this year they ROCKED WITH THE BEST!
20′ Screen big.
Two dance floors big.
Photobooth big!
Platinum artist concert big!
80′ of trussing big!

Words cannot express how much energy we had. Thrill da Playa (69 Boyz) came in for an amazing concert that had the students screaming for more. Afterwards he hung out and took photos with the students at our SnapYourselfSilly Photobooth!
DJ Chevy had it going on outside, too, as he played all requests (mostly country and Latin) for those who wanted a different feel from the inside dance floor!
There's lots of photos and a couple quick clips followed by the main gig log... check it out as there's LOTS to share!!!
Shoutouts to Joann with Events by Joann for the Pipe and Drape!
I don’t think the Royal Plaza in Orlando knew what their venue could be REALLY transformed to…. heck, I didn’t even know. With my amazing team (Monica, Derek and Charles), we created an out of this world experience for Cypress Creek High!
What did they get? Amazing lights around the entire dance floor, black lights, glow in the dark bubbles, stars on the ceiling, clouds during the King & Queen dance, spandex pulls, a photo booth, video screen with live video and ambients to complement the music videos, uplights, color-changing tables…. annndd, get ready for it: The most powerful lasers available for school dances. (Update: We’ll be offering an even bigger pair in blue for multiple colors!)
The students were amazing and the energy level was beyond anything I could’ve imagined. Check out the photos and video below!!!
(The video is very shaky… apologies ahead of time, but there was so much energy that everyone, including my crew, were jumping!)
Well…. my last prom for this year was also 4SchoolsOnly’s last PromX stop as well. LPHS had a similar package as Hardee High’s Prom except that the screen filled the Chateau Elán’s LeMans ballroom from floor to ceiling. This was another smaller crowd, with numbers around 150– but that didn’t stop them from dancing.
They were a unique bunch… we had two guys that literally had a routine dance to every song I played. I lost count of how many times a circle was made around them– thank God for live video– it really made things more interactive! Their principal announce the king and queen and as I played various instrumentals for introductions, the entire room broke out chanting the lyrics!
Meanwhile in the corner, Jenny with SnapYourselfSilly Photobooths was holding down a line eager for the photos that print in less than 15 seconds!
Adam, a longtime friend and wedding client joined us for this one. Methinks he wants to be part of the 4SO crew. Time will soon tell! Check out the photos and the now-improved (I did color correction) video below!
