East Lake’s Prom!

schools East Lakes Prom!

Man, was this a TOUGH drive! On the way to the Innisbrook resort, there was an accident at the end of Courtney Campbell that shut the entire bridge down. Nothing says “PANIC MODE” like sitting 2-3 hours on non-moving traffic.

Fun fact: The mid-90s E150 has one of the best engines Ford has made – the Straight 6.

Fun Fact #2: The ONLY downside to these engines is they don’t like to idle for more than an hour before overheating.

Fun Fact #3: Best way to cool down an overworked engine is to run the heater. Yes, we live in Florida.

Thank God the sea breeze was brisk and that the accident got cleared in time. Our staff, once we arrived, worked faster than ever before to get this huge Showstopper, Snap Yourself Silly! Photobooth, and uplights in 4 hours. Part of the sped-up process was in thanks to the amazing and helpful staff at Innisbrook!

However, it was all worth it! The students danced they moment they walked in and energy was through the roof! Check out the pics and video below!

March of Dimes Fundraiser

Posted on Dec 4, 2012

My friend Joette, with Party People Celebration, asked me to work with her to create a beautiful ambiance for the March of Dimes Fundraiser hosted at the Lakeland Center. There were two rooms: the dinner room and the meeting room for speeches and such. In the dinner room I provided music and got to enjoy a sampling of food from some of the finest and well-known restaurants the city has to offer.

In the meeting room, Joette did a stunning job decorating. We set up a couple of uplights on the walls, but all the attention went on stage. We uplit the drapes and spandex with the theme-color purple and used to bright white LED lights to flood the area where the speaker would be. The great thing about using our LED lights vs the house halogens is that the speaker wasn’t sweating a storm when he was up on the stage.

It looked great and we helped a great cause– we were glad to be a part of Joette’s team!

Seminole High’s Homecoming featuring a 56′ video wall!

Posted on Oct 29, 2012

Recipe for homecoming success?

  • The 4SO Crew
  • 56′ Video Wall
  • A 20×30 truss setup with an incredible light show
  • 1500 Glowsticks
  • A second DJ for the outdoor dance floor
  • Black lights and UV bubbles
  • Colorchanging Uplights

Indeed, Sanford’s own, Seminole High School, really turned up this year… it was an intense experience for everyone, including my crew. We were awestruck at how good everything looked… it was better than expected.

On a personal note, my trusty E150 has 217,000 miles on it (at the time of writing) and had the original serpentine belt. Apparently something flew up and frayed it. Needless to say, an emergency repair had to be done on the spot… but all ended well thanks to Kelly and Christina who came in last minute to help tow the trailer and help us set up. (Waiting for the tow truck and repair supplies set us back 2 hours).

We always have a backup plan, and ultimately, everything always works out. God has watched our backs this homecoming season, we’ve been blessed for sure!!!

That being said, the energy was infectious! Check out the photos and video below!!

Winter Haven’s Homecoming!

Posted on Oct 23, 2012

“Between the Devil and the Deep, Blue Sea” was their homecoming theme. In otherwords: ONE SIDE RED, ONE SIDE BLUE. I love these types of themes, as we can do some great things with the lighting, and they are easy to decorate for.

One side had blue flames with red uplights, whereas the other side had a water effect with blue uplights. A giant X was set above the dance floor (X marks the spot, get it?) while a 20′ video screen stole all the attention. This setup looked so nice, that American DJ (a major lighting manufacturer) featured it on one of their mailers. Click here to see it!

Our hypeman, B. Frank, got challenged by a couple of students at a dance contest, and the whole room went wild! Check out the pictures and video below!

King High’s Homecoming

Posted on Oct 10, 2012

We worked with King High School and their awesome decorator to transform Tampa’s own, MOSI, into a 1920′s themed homecoming. Indeed, I didn’t quite get how this would work since MOSI’s lobby is very open and has several entrances and exits. The staff there was incredibly helpful and quickly turned it into an event space. Overall, it looked great and I can’t wait to do another event there soon!

We brought in quite a few uplights and worked with the decorator, who brought her own, to fill the room in evenly.
